Math Bridge will dedicate giving an inspiring and meaningful talk to your students
We will make sure this time slot works for you. Keep in mind this will likely be mid-day on a weekday.
Due to the difference in topic and depth, each talk has a different length. This is a list of our PREVIOUS talks and their length (these talks are not currently available):
Why you should Incorporate Math into your degree + The Mathematics Program at Western: < 10 minutes
Why Every Person is a Math Person: The Connection Between Math & Neuroplasticity: ~25 minutes
An interactive presentation on Rings: ~40 minutes
To ensure the highest quality presentations, we ask that you request talks at least one month in advance. This timeframe provides ample time for the speaker to thoroughly prepare for the presentation. It also allows us to effectively coordinate scheduling to accommodate both the speaker's availability and your school's calendar.
The primary technical requirements for a Math Bridge talk include:
Projector: This will allows us to display our presentation slides with the students.
Laptop Connectivity: The projector should be compatible with a laptop, allowing the speaker (or an accompanying member) to seamlessly navigate through the presentation slides during the talk.
Writing Board: Our talks typically have an interractive component. A smartboard/whiteboard/chalkboard will allow our speakers to write out points or questions that they want to use to engage with the students.
While these are the primary requirements, we are always flexible and can work with your school's available resources to ensure a successful presentation.
Math Bridge often utilizes media, such as photos and videos, to showcase our achievements and provide visual aids for interested speakers and schools. We typically record the speaker's presentation for our social media channels and website. We also welcome the opportunity to capture student engagement during the talk. However, we fully understand and respect the importance of privacy. If the school or parents do not consent to having students filmed or photographed, please let us know in advance of the talk.
