Dr. Indrajit Ghosh is an Assistant Professor at Bagchi School of Public Health, Ahmedabad University. Previously, he served as a senior project research scientist at NDMC, IIT Bombay. He was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Georgia, Athens, USA. He did another postdoc at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. Originally from Birbhum, West Bengal, India, he holds a BSc degree in Mathematics from Burdwan University, West Bengal. He received MSc in Applied Mathematics from the Visva Bharati University, West Bengal and studied Biomathematics as a special paper before beginning a PhD in Biomathematics at the Agricultural and Ecological Research Unit, ISI, Kolkata. He received PhD degree (Applied Mathematics) in March, 2021 from University of Calcutta (research work carried out at ISI, Kolkata). In his doctoral thesis, he studied various emerging and re-emerging diseases. The work included the development of novel transmission models, mathematical analysis and investigating relevant biological/epidemiological questions using the models. During BSc, MSc, PhD and postdoc, he received several scholarships and fellowships (INSPIRE, NET-JRF, GATE-JRF, NBHM postdoc fellowship) from Govt. of India. After completing his doctoral dissertation, he studied respiratory diseases and dengue disease transmission through mathematical and statistical modeling frameworks. He is actively working on modeling, control strategies and forecasting of infectious diseases.
