Using Online Learning Platforms

Below are a few of the tools used for online learning. If you would like in-person help learning how to use these tools before starting to use them for math class, we can arrange that!

Zoom is a great platform for meeting together online. We can see and hear each other, use a virtual whiteboard, text or send links through the chat, share our screens, show work on the camera, and more.

Susan will send you a link to join your Zoom meetings.

One of our computer instructors, Lori, has made a video about how to use Zoom. Click on the button to see how it works! You may also click on the Zoom logo to try it for yourself.

Jamboard is an online whiteboard with lots of fun features that can be used by more than one person at the same time. Susan's online learners often use Jamboard to work on math. Susan will send you a link to your own math Jamboard, but if you want to play around with it on your own, just click on the orange logo.  (You will need to sign in with a Google account to start a new Jamboard on your own.)

Click on the button to watch a tutorial video about things you can do on a Jamboard.

Google Chat

Google Chat is a platform where you can send quick text messages or pictures. Some of Susan's learners ask questions or send pictures of their work through Chat.

If you want to use Chat for math class, Susan will send you a link to her "Susan's Math Class" space, or you can start your own individual chat for more privacy.  Click the green logo to give it a try. (You need to have a Google or Gmail account to use Chat.)

All learners can communicate with Susan through email.  The math class email is math@tblg.org. Susan will read and respond to your emails during work hours, Monday through Thursday.

If you are more comfortable using another platform, let Susan know. We can work with other alternatives (e.g., Skype) if they are easier for you.
