The venue is the historical city of Paraty, located 250 kms from Rio de Janeiro and 200 from São Paulo. This page contains some practical information regarding traveling to Paraty and lodging there. French participants that will be financially supported by the project are advised to email Jérôme before any expense.
It will be held in the “Pousada Villas de Paraty” located on the shore of a river that crosses the city, and at walking distance from the historical center. There are many hotels and restaurants nearby, in all ranges of prices.
You can get in touch with us by sending an email to amsudleset@gmail.com or directly to one of our coordinators.
It’s located on the south of the Rio de Janeiro state, on a large bay and surrounded by mountains. It’s a historical city with access to several stunning islands and waterfalls. This is a very famous tourist destination in Brazil, and therefore some early preparations are advised.
Below you can find some lodging options. The first is the place of the venue while the other are at walking distance from it. There is a huge offer of lodging nearby, these are given for reference only.
It’s important to book in advance, and we even suggest doing it as soon as possible, as this is a very sought after destination. Prices are approximated (31/08/2023).

As you are probably aware there are two large international airports in Brazil that concentrate most of the aerial traffic: Guarulhos (São Paulo) and Galeão (Rio de Janeiro). It appears that flying to Guarulhos is cheaper nowadays.
Note that we need to be at least 10 people to make this option reasonable (one-way for about 50€ or less). Please plan your flights to be able:
to take the bus from GRU around noon on Sunday, November 26.
to come back to GRU around 2pm on Saturday, December 2.
Please email us at amsudleset@gmail.com to confirm that the above times of departure and arrival in GRU are ok for you and that you will take this bus if available.
After arrival in São Paulo you have to go to Terminal Tietê (bus station), where you’ll catch the bus to Paraty. To get to Tietê there are several possibilities:
Executive bus (website): Around 40 minutes trip, R$35. This is the cheapest option, and goes directly from one place to the other. A good option if you don’t have too much luggage. Departure times:
06:00/06:30/07:30/08:30/09:00/10:00/10:40/11:10/11:40/12:10/12:40/13:10/14:10/15:10/
16:10/17:00/17:30/18:10/19:10/19:40/20:10/20:30/21:10/21:30/22:00/22:30
Taxi: Around R$ 120-150, but we suggest agreeing the price in advance with the driver. If you are not familiar with Brazilian taxis you can book one inside the airport.
The Uber and 99 app work in Brazil. If you have them in your phone they are also a good option, as they will be cheaper than a cab. Note that there is a designated place in the airport for them to pick up passengers, but there are signs indicating the location.
After you arrive in Tietê you will take a bus that takes you directly to Paraty. It costs around R$ 100, and has several time options. Check here for times (enter Sao Paulo in the departing place, not Tietê), or here.
The whole trip takes around 6hs, and you should book in advance (you can use either of the previous two sites).
If you arrive in Galeao you have to go to Rodoviária Novo Rio (bus terminal) to catch the bus to Paraty. There are no executive buses to get there so you’ll have to take a taxi or use an app (Uber), which costs around R$ 25.
Once you get to Novo Rio you take a bus to Paraty (website), which costs around R$ 100.
The whole trip takes around 5hs, and you should book in advance, but probably the november spots are not yet available on the website
You’ll arrive at the (only) bus terminal and from there you can walk (7 minutes) or take a cab, if you have heavy luggage (around R$ 20).
A final possibility is taking an UBER from the airport to the hotel. As for today, prices are around 100 EUR from either Rio or São Paulo. It’s probably a good idea to book the car in advance as well.
