Course Description and Student Learning Outcomes

Prerequisite for Math 1A

A grade of C or better in Math 27 (Precalculus Algebra) OR Math 25 (Precalculus Algebra) and Math 58 (Precalculus Trigonometry) OR the equivalent OR AB705 placement into Math Tier 4. Please come speak with me if you have questions or concerns about your mathematical preparation for this class.

General Course Description

Math 1A is the first semester of the SRJC Calculus sequence. Topics will include limits and continuity, differentiation, integration, and applications of these concepts.


Student Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of Math 1A, students will be able to:

  1. State and apply basic definitions, properties, and theorems of first semester calculus.

  2. Calculate limits, derivatives, definite integrals, and indefinite integrals of algebraic and transcendental functions.

  3. Model and solve application problems using derivatives and integrals of algebraic and transcendental functions.
