El Pozo de Vida is a non-profit organization based in Mexico City that fights against human trafficking in Mexico and Central America. They offer solutions to prevent human trafficking and related crimes, intervene in areas of increased prostitution, and restore victims' lifestyles and well-being. They currently have nine projects in Mexico with considerable influence, and post their annual impact reports on their website.
Through information campaigns, social transformation, and workshops, El Pozo educates students on change without violence. They also offer psychological therapy and support groups for men to combat the "machismo" mindset, gender violence, and toxic masculinity. Aside from this, El Pozo also works with new migrants, who tend to be targets of human trafficking, by educating adults about their vulnerability and children about the topic of abuse.
El Pozo de Vida has community centers that offer a variety of services to form relatiomships with women in prostitution and provide a support network. This includes literary education, dining, jewelry shops, zumba classes, and more. They also head over to the red light districts in Mexico City and invite the women there for a relaxing party in the efforts to give them hope and love. With these tactics, El Pozo has reached over 2,300 beneficiaries.
Through a social enterprise group called Nunayú, women can design, create, and sell their own jewelry. This is made as a testament of their experience and how they got through it. El Pozo also offers a home shelter called Casa Refugio for minors to be educated and cared for. Once they reach adulthood, they can enter a transitional house where they can receive the support they need to fulfill the career or path of their desire -- be that further education, a job, or readjusting to society.
