The programme is designed for students in possession of a three-year university degree (bachelor) in the Humanities (mainly in the area of Language and Philological Sciences and Foreign Languages and Literatures), or in any area requiring a solid basic training in linguistic disciplines. General requirements are the knowledge of English at the European B2 level and a basic training in linguistics or, more broadly, in the field of language and philological sciences.
Admission to the master's is a two-stage process:
A pre-enrolment step in which the CV of the candidate is assessed by the Academic Staff.

2. An enrolment step in which the candidate has to obtain some documents needed to enter the country and to register as a student of the University of Verona.
International candidates are divided into two categories (living abroad and in Italy), each with its own deadline and with slightly different procedures.
The admission procedure for non-EU citizens is a two-step process:
Step 1: Pre-admission
Prospective students interested in the Master's Programme in Linguistics must apply for pre-admission completing the form available at this address and providing the following documents:
Curriculum vitae
Transcripts: certificate of exams with programmes of the courses and grades achieved, issued by the foreign academic authority. No validation is required. No translation is needed if in the following languages: English, Italian, French, Spanish, German.
Statement of Purpose: a short text in English (max. 2 pages) motivating the applicant's interest in the Programme.
Non-EU citizens holding a foreign degree and living abroad may also apply for a scholarship completing the same application available at this address.
Due to Embassy deadlines for the issue of visas, candidates are strongly advised to apply as early as possible, and in any case by 31st March, 2020.
Step 2: Pre-enrolment
Once the pre-admission application is accepted, please refer to the International page on the website of the University of Verona for further instructions, or directly contact the International Student Desk.
Basically, the prospective non-EU student will need to visit as soon as possible the nearest Italian embassy/consulate to comply the pre-enrolment procedure and get the following documents:
Declaration of Value (dichiarazione di valore in loco), issued on condition that the applicant has at least 12 years of pre-university education and holds a university degree requiring at least 3 years of attendance.
A certificate issued by the foreign university, with Apostille stamp or translated and validated by the Italian embassy/consulate, with details of courses taken during the bachelor and grades. This document must be in English or Italian.
A Study Visa: a temporary residence permit which is needed to be admitted to Italy.
The first two documents can be substituted with the Diploma Supplement to your bachelor degree, provided the foreign university belongs to the European Higher Education Area.
EU citizens and non-EU citizens living in Italy on a regular permit of stay shall apply for pre-acceptance, as well as Italian citizens.
Step 1: Pre-admission

Application will be open in summer 2021 and it will be advertised on the main University website.
Step 2: Enrolment
Once the pre-admission application is accepted and before proceeding with the payment of the first instalment of university fees, students with foreign qualifications must check with the University’s International Student Desk to determine whether their qualifications are suitable for the study programmes they have chosen. Otherwise, any fees paid will not be refunded.
