Prerequisites

Let's make sure you have everything you need to get started

Let us first make sure you have downloaded (and are located in) the starting directory provided, which will also be the starting point for MINILAB1:

Download the zip file (or the content) of the Tuesday folder for this session from the Google Drive folder of the school, into your preferred working directory, which we will call $TUESDAY_MASSIVE_STARS. The $ here indicates that this is an environment variable. Make sure to place this directory somewhere outside $MESA_DIR, just in case you ever have to overwrite your parent MESA directory you don't also lose all your work from this lab!

export TUESDAY_MASSIVE_STARS=/path/to/whatever/your/working/directory/is/

e.g. on Jared's computer, this is:

export TUESDAY_MASSIVE_STARS=/Users/jgoldberg/Projects/MESADownUnder/Tuesday/

Once you've downloaded the lab materials, move it to your working directory and unzip the folder:

mv ~/Downloads/Tuesday-[a bunch of garbage numbers].zip $TUESDAY_MASSIVE_STARS/Tuesday.zip

cd $TUESDAY_MASSIVE_STARS/

unzip Tuesday.zip

Proceed to the lab materials by clicking HERE or on the MINILAB1 tab in the upper right corner (To start at the beginning of Minilab 1, be sure to click the words MINILAB1, not any of the drop-down items)
