This is the third chapter of a personal role-playing campaign project.
In this chapter, the players embark on a quest to find the hero Vondal, who suddenly disappeared during one of his journeys.
However, their adventures soon lead them to distant and mysterious places on the other side of the world.
In this storyline, I wanted to emphasise a sense of adventure and a change of scenery in the style of Indiana Jones / Jumanji. To achieve this, I used the territories and trials that the players go through and new gameplay mechanics specific to this scenario.
In order to follow these intentions, I've opted for several small dungeons with different atmospheres, rather than a single large dungeon. I've also introduced an exploration system where players have to find their way through a jungle using their senses. Along the way, they'll come across random events that will either complicate or facilitate their progress through these unknown lands.
The main difficulty in designing this chapter lay in the balancing and how to guide the group correctly without giving them too much help.
However, the story was very interesting to create, because my references ( Jumanji, etc ... ) gave me lots of ideas and allowed me to develop the many situations with different approaches and resolutions that I needed to make the players' journey through the jungle lively and coherent.
I was also able to practise designing a civilisation, with its beliefs, lifestyle, etc... Here, we have dwarves who were banished to the surface thousands of years ago and have been living in the jungle ever since. They have returned to a lifestyle close to nature and have developed a new culture and religion following their encounter with a mysterious astral creature.
Finally, as with Chapter 2, I made the various scenario maps in the Talespire 3D engine, allowing me to improve my GD/LD implementation, level Art and indirect storytelling.
