Do I need to be a chiropractic patient to receive a massage at BaxPlus?
No. Massage services are available to all clients.
How do I schedule an appointment?
All appointments are scheduled through the BaxPlus office at 717‑627‑0818. Online booking is not available.
What should I expect during my first session?
You will fill out a brief intake form covering general medical information and any areas of concern. Once in the massage room, I will provide simple instructions to help you get positioned comfortably. The room is private and has a door; please avoid locking it, as there is no key to unlock it from the outside.
Is tipping appropriate?
Tipping is appreciated but never required. If you choose to tip, the typical range is 15–20%.
(If you are unsure whether tipping is allowed at a particular business, it is always okay to ask.)
Do I need to undress completely?
Undressing allows for the most effective use of massage techniques. However, you may remain partially clothed if you prefer. Wearing loose, comfortable clothing can help if you choose not to fully disrobe.
How does draping work?
You will always be covered with a sheet (and blanket if needed). Only the area being worked on will be undraped, and it will be covered again before moving to the next area.
You may request that I avoid any area you are uncomfortable having worked on.
What should I wear?
Most clients undress down to their underwear. You will be fully covered before I enter the room.
What happens when I turn over?
I will hold the sheet to help you turn without becoming tangled. If your arms are under the sheet, I will gently guide them out when needed.
Can I request lighter or firmer pressure?
Absolutely. You are encouraged to let me know if the pressure is too much or too little. My natural pressure is moderate to firm, but I can adjust within safe limits.
Do you offer deep tissue massage?
No. Deep tissue is a specialized modality requiring specific training. I do not offer true deep‑tissue sessions.
Can I talk during the session?
If you prefer a quiet session, you are welcome to relax silently. I will only speak to give necessary instructions.
If you enjoy talking, you may initiate conversation at any time.
What is the difference between basic and full‑body hot stone?
Basic Hot Stone: Heated stones are used on the back, neck, and shoulders. Placement stones may be added during longer sessions.
Full‑Body Hot Stone: Includes the back, legs, feet, arms, hands, and neck.
What if the stones feel too hot or uncomfortable?
Please let me know. I can cool, remove, or reposition any stone.
Is hot stone safe during pregnancy?
Hot stone is generally safe, but I do not offer hot stone during prenatal sessions. Most prenatal clients require side‑lying positioning, which makes hot stone less effective and less comfortable.
Can I receive a prenatal massage?
Yes. Prenatal massage is available at no additional cost. You should decide your comfort level, and if you are unsure, consult your doctor.
How will I be positioned?
During the second and third trimester, you will typically be positioned side‑lying with a full body pillow for support. I will work on one side, then assist you in turning to the other. You will also be positioned face‑up with appropriate elevation to avoid lying flat.
Can I lie flat during pregnancy?
After the first trimester, lying flat is not recommended. If you cannot lie flat or side‑lying comfortably, massage may not be appropriate at this location.
Do I need to inform the office of medical conditions?
Please inform the office only if you are pregnant or unable to lie flat on the table. All other medical information can be provided on your intake form.
What if I cannot lie on my back, stomach, or side?
If you cannot lie safely in any of these positions, massage may not be appropriate here. Some therapists specialize in seated or alternative positioning; you may wish to seek a therapist trained in those methods.
What if I am sick?
Please cancel your appointment or wear a proper medical mask. Illness‑related cancellations will not result in a late‑cancellation fee.
Are all medical conditions safe for massage?
Not always. Some conditions require a therapist with specialized training (for example, oncology massage for clients undergoing cancer treatment). If you have concerns, please ask.
(I am not credentialed for oncology massage.)
What happens if I arrive late?
Your session may be shortened, but the full fee for the originally scheduled appointment still applies.
What is your cancellation policy?
A minimum 24‑hour notice is required. Emergencies will be handled on an individual basis.
What if I miss my appointment?
Payment for the missed appointment is required. This may be paid at your next scheduled session or as soon as possible.
Frequent missed appointments may result in loss of emergency exceptions or a recommendation to seek a walk‑in massage business.
Do you offer chair massage?
No. All sessions take place on a massage table. Clients must be able to lie face‑down, face‑up, or side‑lying.
Do you sell gift certificates?
Yes. Gift certificates must be purchased in person at BaxPlus during office hours.
How early should I arrive?
New clients should arrive 10–15 minutes early to complete the intake and policy forms.
Returning clients should arrive 5–10 minutes early to allow time for updates, restroom use, and settling onto the table.
Your appointment begins at the scheduled time (e.g., a 2:00pm appointment starts at 2:00pm).
