The Mason District Art Festival seeks to connect artists and the community in a first (for us) event that is open to all. We charge only a minimal fee for registration and do not take any portion of any sales conducted by artists. To provide the most supportive environment we can, we have offered to help artists locate festival materials (tents, for the most part) and will help meet other needs as they arise.
While many of the artists registered for the Mason District Art Festival are experienced professionals, new and developing artists are also in the mix. Some of these artists share a concern about participating in art events - either they don't feel prepared, they don't feel that they should be showing their work, or they don't know how to do some of the basic parts of the process.
David Goldstein, a member of the Mason Arts Advisory Council and a practicing artist and frequent festival presenter, has graciously prepared a short video explaining how to participate in an outdoor festival for first-timers. We hope that this will prove useful as you prepare for the October 11 event. Remember, this isn't for everyone, but if just one participant finds this useful, that is sufficient.
