Hi! I am Marzieh Ghayour, a Master's student in Computing Science at the University of Alberta, supervised by Matthew E. Taylor. I received my B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University in Tehran, where I had the opportunity to work with an incredible group of people in the Auriga team, that's where I first got fascinated by Robotics and Intelligent systems.
My primary research goal is to understand how human-AI interactions can help us design better, more adaptive intelligent systems. I am particularly interested in Reinforcement Learning, Embodied AI, Human-AI interaction, and how reinforcement learning can be applied to control and decision-making tasks in real-world environments.
Working on intelligent systems is not just about creating something smart, it’s about the curiosity and joy of trying to understand and recreate the complexity of intelligence itself. It’s fascinating, sometimes hard, and always a little bit like trying to fool ourselves into believing we can capture thought in math and code.
Ultimately, I hope my work contributes to building systems that make life easier and more interesting, while helping to deepen our understanding of both artificial and human intelligence.
