This survey was provided by Time To Log Off to let users be aware of social media usage reflected by the questionnaires. After participating I found my results to be:
Statistics
Digging through Pew Research Center, I stumbled upon this article, Connection, Creativity and Drama: Teen Life on Social Media in 2022. The article had an interesting stance throughout with the evidence provided. I particularly chose this statement below because it's interesting people equally believed the negative effects were on their age group as well as themselves. My question to that is, what are U.S. teens doing to lessen it?
Societal Devastation
Personally, I believe social media is impacting our societies for the worse. Yes, social media has been an outlet for many to become famous. However, it doesn't happen to everyone overnight or longevity-wise. It sets up and advertises a false narrative of how life should be. I condone chasing your passions or dreams but have a backup plan for when reality hits with the downsides.
I also believe social media has pushed society deeper into the simulation rabbit holeš¤«.
Lesson Learned
From this project, I was able to take away from both perspectives on social media influence not just from a societal standpoint but within myself. The survey has offered reflection and opened up ways I need to approach my social media usage.
