Creating a safe and comfortable learning environment for students and their families is so important. Through feeling safe and comfortable, relationships are built and trust is gained. It is my duty, as a teacher, to supply a safe and healthy learning environment that facilitates cultural and linguistic responsiveness, emotional well-being, self-efficiency, positive social interaction, mutual respect, active engagement, academic risk-taking, self-motivation, and personal goal-setting. With this classroom website, I am giving students and their families the tools to build their comfort before even stepping foot in my classroom. I review things like our classroom set up, rewards that are gained, procedures and routines, instructional and learning styles, diversities, and resources that will help all families. I also supply an “About Me” section where families can get to know who their child is spending a majority of their time with. I strive to build those relationships so that there is open communication between the student, teacher, and families. With open communication, brings more success in supporting the student and setting him or her up for maximized learning.
