In Barcelona, Anna is a tour guide working on her monologue, in which she's a Communist housewife whose lesbian neighbor is an object of curiosity. She's sent an audition tape to San Francisco's Another Stage. While giving a tour, she meets Montserrat, American, Jewish, teaching in Barcelona and unhappy with her job. Stressed and facing discrimination, women are having shorter periods. Since men appear to be the cause of these changes, the biggest multinational sanitary napkin company takes action. A team of female executives in Barcelona comes up with a plan.
Julia, a director of the Public Theatre in Barcelona, decides to take on a project: a play about Madame de Sevigne (1626-96). The Parisian marchioness was famous for a collection of 1700 letters to her daughter. Julia must choose between her conventional life with her husband, Gerardo, an influential theater critic, and Ignasi, the attractive programmer at the theatre with whom she is having an affair -- or a fresh new start with Marina the author of the play.

A prequel to Costa Brava, this story finds Anna in New York writing commercials for a roach killer. She is infatuated with Marta, an actress living in Barcelona. Anna decides it's time to come out of the closet, and she chooses to reveal her truth to Marta's partner, who is played by Cookie Rufino.
This is a fitting-room drama about a tomboy and her hysterical mother who can't handle her daughter's refusal to wear "girlie dresses." It has a happy ending for the girl, who follows her true passion of becoming an orchestra conductor.
