Marta Lazzaretti

I am a postdoctoral researcher (assegnista di ricerca) at the Math department of the University of Genoa since April 2024.

From November 2023 to March 2024, I was an ingénieurs d'études at the I3S Lab (CNRS-INRIA-Université Côte d'Azur) in the Equipe Morpheme.

I obtained my PhD en cotutelle in applied mathematics from University of Genoa and Université Côte d'Azur in April 2024, under the joint supervision of Luca Calatroni (Université Côte d'Azur) and Claudio Estatico (University of Genoa) with a thesis titled "Optimisation algorithms in non-standard Banach spaces for inverse problems in imaging".

Research interests

Inverse problems in imaging, in applied geophysics, in neurophysiology, in microscopy imaging
Sparsity: sparse estimation, super-resolution in microscopy, sparse optimisation
Optimisation: proximal splitting algorithms, acceleration and backtracking strategies, stochastic optimisation, optimisation in infinite-dimensional settings
Banach spaces: inverse problems and optimisation in Banach spaces

The Reading Club

Since February 2025, together with Mohammad Karimnejad, postdoc at the MIDA group, we are organising The Reading Club, a collaborative reading group on different aspects of numerical analysis, optimization, interpolation and their applications to machine learning, medical imaging, astrophysics and signal processing, etc.

Meetings are held both in person at the Math department of the University of Genoa and online, approximately every two weeks. If you are interested please check out our webpage.
