The Mars One organization has set the prerequisites to select the perfect crew for the mission. The company describes the fit crew member as the person whose characteristics matches with an astronaut. For that, they should be the following. - (Mars One team, n.d.)
Candidates Selected for the 8 years training for the mission to Mars (O'Callaghan, 2015).
To eliminate the threat of any spams or frivolous applications, Mars One is charging an application fee which varies from country to country (Pastore, 2019).
Mars One also requires a person to make a 30-70 seconds video introducing themselves and answering specific questions about their abilities along with their resumes (Pastore, 2019).
The selected candidates will have to move to United States for seven years as full-time employees of Mars One (Pastore, 2019). The candidates will have to spend nine months of each year learning dentistry, emergency medicine, general medicine, engineering, biology, mechanics (Pastore, 2019).

The candidates who were selected for the round three were numbered 100, out of those, 50 are men and 50 are women (Contrera, 2015). These candidates are from various countries and back ground, and here is the list of the qualifications of the Mars 100 (Contrera, 2015).
Based on their employment, 81 are currently employed, 13 are in school, and 6 candidates are without a job (Contrera, 2015).

Over 200,000 applicants applied in the first round of the selection process. In the second round, 100 out of these applicants were selected for the next round (Mars One team, 2015).
Looking forward in the future, these candidates will have to go through a test module in round three in which they will form a team and compete each other (Howell, 2016).
