I was assigned the task to work in Coral Draw to edit the pre-made flyer into the different languages. Within a day I managed to work with Coral Draw, a new program I never worked with before. I was able to redesign the flyer, as the original file was sent to us in a pdf format. Within a week I finished the first drafts of the new folder, with slide improvements to the overall look of the flyer.
Furthermore, I was able to produce an informative poster for the AMK conference where EUCC presented. No one had time to work on this poster, and I had to read into the materials and results of the social study conducted by EUCC on beach wrack awareness and tolerance. In three days, I had managed to create a well-put-together poster to be presented at the AMK conference.
At the end of her professional practice, I helped with input for a factsheet that needed to be re-created about beach wrack.
For methodology, I worked on a raw dataset that needed to be analyzed. A draft paper had been written previously and needed amendments. My analysis and cleaning of the dataset helped push this project further, as it will be reviewed from the beginning.
Working from home has one major downfall, you forget the time and you continue working without taking any breaks. And that is what I will take with me for my next working experience, I will try to not take my work home and be consistent with my valuable time.
For 9 weeks I stayed in Rostock, 7.5 weeks I worked for the EUCC-D as an intern for my PP. I have experienced many hardships, especially when it came to my mental health. I struggled to be alone and normally I am great at being on my own.
Overall, I did many things for EUCC-D during my PP. Task concluded were on the following topics materials (flyers, poster, and factsheet), methodology (research support social paper, and first base study at litter monitoring programs), monitoring (Ostseeascher litter monitoring, attend site visits, and floating wetland installation), transnational cooperation (GRASS conference, CONTRA conference, and AMK conference), and internal (social media meetings, morning meetings, and overall EUCC involvements).
Even though, I had a difficult time during my stay, I can look back at a successful professional practice. And I would like to thank Jane Hofmann for her supportive words of encouragement during this short PP. I have been lucky to have you as my supervisor, furthermore, a big thank you to Matej Bonavec who checked in with me from time to time.
