During my professional practice I had a set of tasks assigned to me. Some had to be finished as soon as possible and others did not. My main assignment were pushed aside by another task in week 5, thus my planning became useless and had to start anew. When certain projects have a higher priority you have to be able to stop on what your currently working on and start with the new tasks. Which can be challenging, but not impossible.
Part of the CONTRA project EUCC-D worked on promoting sustainable removal of beach wrack. Furthermore, they worked on the education of beach wrack, one of the tools used is informative flyers to be handed out at camping's, tourists information centra, and other locations.
I was able to finish the flyers for EUCC. Another task I concluded was writing a poster that was presented at the AMK conference.
I did not many fieldwork trips. But I was able to attend some of the field workdays.
I attended monitoring days for beach wrack, dune degradation, the Ostseeacher (a cigarette butts initiative monitored on the beaches), and the installation of an artificial island.
I was able to attend three international conferences on algae and beach wrack.
GRASS conference, CONTRA conference, and AMK conference.
During the CONTRA conference, I attended all sessions, and during the break-out rooms, we were able to discuss certain topics that had been discussed prior.
The EUCC-D beach wrack network will be introduced this month, furthermore, I will be connected to the EUCC-D intern alumni network list.
During my stay in Rostock, I worked 90% from home. This meant that all my work was done from behind my desk.
I started with establishing a beach litter monitoring survey, but ended working on a social data set. The social questionnaire was conducted in 6 different countries, to see what the tolerance and awareness of beach-goers are about beach wrack.
EUCC-D will later on in the year publish the results.
