CNR

INM

The Institute of Marine Engineering of the Italian National Research Council (INM-CNR), in Genova, focuses on design, development and field exploitation of marine robots and modelling of systems dynamics. INM has experience with short and long term robotic-based campaigns in the Arctic and Antarctica.

Within MARMOT INM's tasks encompass:

- design and development of a Back-Pack Autonomous Surface Vehicle

- development of control logics

- sensor integration

- in-situ sampling campaigns

- data management

IBE

In MARMOT Institute of BioEconomy (IBE) provides low-cost web-enabled air quality sensors (AIRQino) managed via a flexible mission microcontroller. IBE wille also provide a sampler to collect airborne aerosols on sterile filters that are usable for multiple downstream microbiological analysis.

ISP

The Institute of Polar Science (Messina) studies relations between chemical contamination and microbial communities in natural matrices, also in cold remote areas. Both microbial ecology and biotechnological aspects are treated to analyse: microbial abundance, diversity and functions in relation to environmental parameters, by adopting both classical and biomolecular techniques. ISP will be in charge of microbial abundance, activity and diversity analysis with classical and advanced techniques.
