Dr. Roseland has served on a range of Boards of Directors, from small and medium-sized firms to multi-million dollar development corporations.  These have included for-profit companies, community development corporations, real estate development trusts, housing developers, professional societies, and nonprofit organizations. He also advises Boards on their sustainability practice and guides executives on their sustainability thought leadership.

Dr. Roseland was a founding director of Catalyst Community Developments, which leverages real estate assets to create vibrant, affordable, and inspiring places for people to live and work in. Catalyst adopts a mixed-income model, with a focus on building new rental homes that are affordable to individuals and families that earn at or near the average household incomes for the various communities in which it is providing housing.  Rents vary based on the size of the homes built. Catalyst’s goal is to offer rents that are initially in the range of 10-40% below market, and to work with its partners to manage – and even reduce – rents over time.

At Simon Fraser University, Dr. Roseland was a founding member of the SFU Community Trust’s Board of Directors, responsible for developing the award-winning UniverCity neighborhood. The Trust is developing UniverCity by preparing zoned, serviced, and subdivided sites to private sector developers on a prepaid, 99-year leasehold basis.  Having developed homes for more than 5,000 UniverCity residents, the Trust now has a record of successful partnerships with many of Greater Vancouver’s largest and most respected residential developers.

Dr. Roseland serves on the Board of Realize Solutions, an award-winning B Corp-certified team that designs practical solutions for organizations with complex problems in the areas of people, governance, and strategy.

In Arizona, Dr. Roseland serves on the Board of RAIL (Retail, Arts, Innovation & Livability) Community Development Corporation, guiding and supporting quality transit-oriented development along the light rail corridor in Mesa and Tempe.
