At Mark McGowan Sea Kayaking, we believe that great sea kayaking experiences are built on more than time spent on the water. They are built on careful planning, professional judgement, mutual respect and a genuine commitment to providing every participant with a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Sea kayaking is an adventurous and technical paddlesport undertaken in a dynamic natural environment. Every Activity is different, and every decision we make is guided by the Conditions, the needs of our participants and the safe and effective delivery of the Activity.
This page outlines the commitments that guide how we operate. They reflect the standards you can expect from us and the values that underpin every Activity we deliver.
We are committed to making our Activities as accessible as reasonably practicable and welcome enquiries from anyone who would like to discuss their individual requirements before booking.
Every participant is different, and we recognise that accessibility is about understanding individual needs rather than making assumptions. We encourage open conversations before an Activity so that we can understand any adjustments or additional information that may help us provide the best possible experience.
Sea kayaking is a physically demanding activity undertaken in a changing natural environment. While we will always consider reasonable adjustments where practicable, there may be occasions where an Activity is not suitable or cannot be adapted safely. Any decisions will always be based on the safe and effective delivery of the Activity and the wellbeing of everyone involved.
We are passionate about protecting the coastal environments in which we paddle and are committed to minimising our impact on the places we visit.
We encourage all participants to respect wildlife, local communities and other water users, follow Leave No Trace principles and help protect our waterways by adopting good biosecurity practices, including Check, Clean, Dry where appropriate.
By working together, we can help ensure these special places remain healthy and accessible for future generations to enjoy.
We are committed to providing Activities in an environment where everyone is treated with dignity, courtesy and respect.
We expect all participants to contribute to a positive experience by behaving respectfully towards others and by following the reasonable instructions of the Kayak Leader.
Any concerns relating to the safety, wellbeing or welfare of a participant will be taken seriously and managed appropriately. Where necessary, appropriate action will be taken to protect those involved.
We value feedback and are always looking for ways to improve the experiences we provide.
If something has not met your expectations, we encourage you to let us know as soon as reasonably practicable so that we have the opportunity to understand what happened and work towards a fair resolution. Details of how to raise a concern can be found in our Complaints Policy or by contacting us directly.
