Brewery equipment enables beer production through milling, mashing, fermentation, filtration, and packaging systems supporting craft, regional, and macrobreweries. The global brewery equipment market size was valued at USD 21.61 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach from USD 22.93 billion in 2025 to USD 36.83 billion by 2033, growing at a CAGR of 6.1% during the forecast period (2025-2033).

Market Drivers

Global craft beer revolution fuels demand for compact, automated brewhouses as microbreweries proliferate from 10,000 in 2015 to 50,000+ worldwide requiring turnkey 3-20 barrel systems. Premiumization trends drive regional brewers toward high-efficiency equipment supporting hazy IPAs, barrel-aged sours, and non-alcoholic variants.

Sustainability mandates accelerate adoption of water recycling systems, energy-efficient steam boilers, and CO2 recovery units reducing operational costs by 20-30%.

Market Challenges

High capital expenditure for automated macrobrewery lines exceeding USD 50 million creates barriers for small operators. Skilled brewer shortages hinder complex equipment operation while volatile malt and hop prices impact ROI calculations.

Regulatory compliance for food safety and wastewater discharge varies across regions complicating equipment standardization.

Market Segmentation

By Operation Mode

Automatic systems dominate macrobreweries with PLC controls and SCADA integration achieving 99.9% uptime. Semi-automatic equipment serves regional breweries balancing cost and customization.

Manual systems persist in artisanal craft operations emphasizing hands-on quality control.

By Brewery Type

Macrobreweries command largest share producing 90% global volume through continuous fermentation tanks and aseptic filling lines. Regional breweries grow rapidly scaling from 100,000 to 1 million hectoliters annually.

Microbreweries/microbreweries fuel equipment innovation with modular 1-5 HL pilot systems and quick-changeover brewing vessels.

By Equipment Type

Brewhouse systems lead revenue with mash tuns, lauter tuns, and whirlpools optimized for decoction mashing. Fermentation and storage tanks follow with pressure-rated cylindroconical vessels supporting secondary fermentation.

Filtration, filling, and packaging equipment completes production lines with tunnel pasteurizers and keg washers.

By End User

Commercial breweries hold majority share serving hospitality chains and retail distribution. Homebrewing equipment grows among hobbyists with all-in-one electric systems.

By Region

Europe dominates with Germany's 1,500+ breweries and Belgium's lambic traditions driving precision engineering demand. North America exhibits fastest growth fueled by 9,000+ craft breweries requiring turnkey solutions.
