The Process

In block or linocut printing,  a reverse image is carved into a block -  in this case rigid pink insulation foam left over from a home renovation project- in preparation to receive an ink.

After preparing a block, ink is applied using a brayer (roller) and the image is then transferred by hand or by using some sort of mechanical press.  In this case, paper is laid over the block and a spoon was used as a baren to apply tangential pressure over the paper in oreder to transfer as much ink as possible from the plate to the paper.
