My name is John Markealli.  I started Three Things Block Printing in the summer of 2024 after developing three designs of spotted towhee birds that live along our backyard fence in the neighbor's bamboo.  

I have had experiences with block printing / linocut throughout my art life, and I found a deeply resonant reconnection to this technique.  I am able to find expression and a place for my restless creative energy in this versatile medium.

Having had a fantastic career as a middle school teacher since 1994, I am looking at a change when I retire from education.  The natural progression of events in my life is leading me to make and sell block / linocut prints.  I aim to preserve the human element in my process, my artwork, and the selling of my artwork at all costs.  This will inevitably lead me to conflict with the way things are being done in the modern world, but I have learned that conflict and struggle are the foundations of the best narratives and that humans can control the resolutions of conflict to be creative rather than destructive.
