This page is just for other fun stuff I've done that you all might find some enjoyment in. In order for the mp3 files embedded here to load, you may need to click and drag around the progress bar a little bit.
As a part of a so-called "game jam," my roommate, Mac (who will be a recurring figure on this page), and I created this (mostly) functional game that you can play (if you have Windows) in just 12 hours. My most significant contribution to the project was the music.
In the event that you cannot play our game, I've also embedded an mp3 file of the song I helped write. This song was intended to be looped throughout the game so the beginning and ending of the song may sound a bit abrupt, but this was intentional.
Here's an improvised rendition of the jazz standard "There Will Never Be Another You" that Mac and I recorded in our living room. Mac, on acoustic guitar, is a much better jazz musician than I am and I think it really shows on this track. In the background, you also will be able to hear a couple of our other roommates chatting as well; this was not intended on our part, but in retrospect I think it kind of adds a nice sort of ambience to the recording.
Here, I've linked a much more professional recording of "There Will Never Be Another You" from Chet Baker Sings, a wonderful album that Mac introduced me to.
As a part of an ethnomusicology class I took in Winter 2023, I arranged and recorded a cover of the song "Sun//Eater" by Lorna Shore in the style of ska, which you can listen to here. I recorded the bass guitar and electric guitar on real instruments and the rest were recorded using what synthesizers I could find on the digital audio workstation (DAW) I was using.
Here is a link to the original song by Lorna Shore (Content Warning - This music is very loud and aggressive, and it definitely isn't for everyone. Additionally, there is one instance of an expletive, however I have a feeling you will probably not be able to tell where in the song it is. In both cases, listener discretion is advised).
If you decide to listen, it might be a fun listening exercise try to find which parts I chose to arrange and what I decided to leave out.
I recorded this cover of the song "Surface Tension 2" by Joel Nielsen from the video game Black Mesa back in 2021.
Once again, here is the original version of the song as well.
