They were not aware of what grew under their feet.

Join Jyor as he attempts to learn what threatens his home, and what might be gained from it.

RoyalRoad had a short story contest, one month to write. 8k words mimiumum (this is about 11). Prompt was dragons in space, and I kind of fudged around with that a bit, but you can see for yourself. First short story I've ever written. Good challenge.
