This site showcases my academic work, research on Black family life and spatial justice,
and my commitment to empowering students and communities through writing and scholarship.
I’m Marissa Boglin, a fourth-year PhD candidate in English at the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa, with a research focus on the African American family, housing discrimination, and the Harlem Renaissance. As an educator and writer, I bring a commitment to critical pedagogy, inclusive teaching, and community-engaged scholarship. This site highlights my teaching philosophy, research interests, and recent publications, including my contribution to Mamas, Martyrs, and Jezebels from Black Lawrence Press. I am currently seeking a tenure-track position where I can continue mentoring students, producing impactful scholarship, and contributing meaningfully to a department dedicated to equity, access, and academic excellence.
