Regular courses

I teach two courses regularly at the University of Göttingen (both in German)

Wissenschaftliche Kompetenzen (Scientific skills for psychology)
Focusses on basic skills we need as scientists, such as how to read and write papers, how to cite properly, and how to criticially evaluate methods and conclusions. Each topic consists of a lecture, where we cover the theory, as well as a tutorial, where students get to dive deeper in the materials themselves
Takes place weekly during the summer semester
I am co-teaching this course with
Sarah Eiteljörge

Experimentalpraktikum Biokognition (experimental practical biocognition)
Designed to give students some first hands-on experience with running a psychological study, including designing the experiment, implementing it (using PsychoPy), collecting and analyzing data, and draw conclusions based on that data
Takes place as a block course in March
I am co-teaching this course with Nivi Mani

Past courses

A hands-on introduction to event-related potentials
Gives students both a theoretical and practical introduction to using event-related potentials (ERPs) as a tool in cognitive science. Following some theoretical background on what ERPs are and what kind of research questions can be answered with them, the course focusses on the preprocessing and analysis of ERP data. Each preprocessing and analysis step is first introduced to the class, before students implement it themselves using the FieldTrip toolbox in Matlab.
Took place as a block course in April 2018 at the Berlin School of Mind and Brain.
