SMP Muhammadiyah Muliska has been integrating the Independent Curriculum or the Merdeka Kurikulum in which it is declared as National Curriculum in last March 2024. Where students are expected and equipped to be interest- driven, talented, and well- rounded in academic and life situations. 

The lesson that will be consolidated inside the class. The school prepared specified program that boosts the student’s interest and strengths. School also involves promotional activities and inter-school program to expose the student to wider spectrum of their chosen competences. It focuses on how students pay attention to what strength they have as well as understanding the wider view of education the help of personal understanding.

English subject involves materials and the subject matter are prepared ahead of time, and its content depicts on the things such as deeper understanding and exercising the language. From the start since I am a language teacher. I am expected to teach them the pronunciation, definitions, translations and basic information about the system and how to write a simple sentence. I also added content in English translated in Bahasa and involves more of the gestures as I discussed to easily portray the meaning. I also let them recite one by one, the passages and sentences displayed in a PowerPoint presentation.

The challenge is to maintain their interest and involve them in the process as many as possible. Teaching language subject subject especially to students whose English is not their second language is a challenge. But a challenge needs to face and solve.
