This virtual portfolio holds a compilation of writing center data, interviews, and collaborative research for the purposes of ENG 513: History of Composition final project!
This project is a work in progress.
In the future, I hope to continue this research and interview WWU and CWU writing centers to compare and contrast writing centers at the community college and university levels.

Summer solstice in the beautiful Homer, Alaska!
Hello!
My name is Mariah.
I am from Bellingham, Washington, where I attended Community College at WCC and my undergrad at Western Washington University.
I returned to WCC after receiving my BA to work in the writing center and intercultural center. My intention was to "get my foot in the door" at my dream future employer, but instead, I was struck by how much I ended up learning about composition, anti-racist pedagogy and grading and tutoring, and ultimately, the foundations of my teaching philosophy about collaborative learning.
In this project, I connect my experience at the writing center to the composition movements that I studied in one of my graduate program classes at Central Washington University.
My hope is to combine my past writing center experience with my current research in composition pedagogy frameworks in collaboration with reflections on my first quarter of teaching as a graduate student TA.
