In-Person vs. Online Lessons:
In-person lessons are fantastic and preferred, but the internet offers a wonderful alternative! If there’s anything we’ve learned from COVID-19, it’s that teaching and learning online can be just as effective. Whether you’re experiencing contagious symptoms, traveling, in your car, or simply find it more convenient, we can easily switch to online lessons via FaceTime, Facebook Messenger, or Zoom.
Scheduling and Reminders:
Once your lessons are scheduled, you’ll receive a weekly reminder of the day and time. Please be sure to add your lesson to your calendar and put on weekly repeat to ensure you don’t miss it.
Piano Lessons:
For online piano lessons, it’s best to position your device so I can clearly see both you and your fingers on the piano. We’ll write down your weekly assignments, which will build on what we covered in the previous lesson. Depending on your pace and how much you want to learn, you might have 3-5 assignments each week. Consistent practice is key to achieving the best results and making steady progress. Remember, the goal isn’t perfection but progress, and that’s what we’ll aim for each week. How fast or slow that progress happens is up to you and how much you practice.
Voice Lessons:
For the best online voice lesson experience, here’s what you’ll need:
FaceTime: A phone or iPad works perfectly.
Facebook Messenger Call: Any device will work.
Zoom: Ideally, use a computer with a strong internet connection. A hardwired ethernet connection is preferred, but strong Wi-Fi will also work. Since cell phones don’t allow for optimal audio settings on Zoom, a computer is the best option.
Be prepared with:
A song you want to work on.
A phone or tablet to play your accompaniment.
A headset or earbuds for better sound quality (optional).
The latest version of Zoom, so you can record your lesson and practice with it daily. Practicing with the recording each day will help you reach your vocal goals more quickly.
