Maria has received a start-up grant from the Dorothea Schlözer Programm for post-doctoral researchers at the University of Göttingen to develop her "Nachwuchsgruppen" program in seed systems transformation. This grant will support her innovative research on enhancing seed system resilience and sustainability.

Maria visited the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) in Kenya, where she looked at the trials of the international stem rust phenotyping platform. This platform plays a crucial role in combating stem rust, a significant threat to global wheat production.
