Remote teaching

Due to the developments of the Corona virus pandemic, shifting to remote teaching became mandatory for the Spring Semester 2020. We had an obligation towards our students to help them finish their semester undisrupted. Venturing into that territory was not a difficult task since our previous familarisation with technology helped maintain a normal flow of lesson. Moreover, we had often resorted to online communication through previous semesters whether that meant revision, actual lesson, or a meeting. Online communication never ceased to exist!

For the new academic year (2020-2021) we continue to use the Moodle platform (the Cyprus University of technology e-learning platform) for interactive learning content, for asynchronous and synchronous communication and gamification-based tools.

TOOLS FOR ONLINE TEACHING - focusing on the learner

Synchronous sessions:

Spring 2020- For the synchronous sessions, I used Zoom and Skype with my students. We also interacted through Facebook LiveStreaming. The videos were helpful for the students since they could go back and revise some points.

Fall 2021 - I am currently using Moodle Web-conferencing for synchronous sessions.

Asynchronous sessions:

Spring 2020 - All students also had a Google Drive folder which was shared with me. Thus, the uploading of material and practice were facilitated through constant collaboration between myself and the students and between students themselves. Our Facebook closed group was fundamental towards our asynchronous sessions.
