About the University Library in Bratislava
The University Library in Bratislava ranks among the oldest and most visited research libraries in Slovakia. It was established in 1919 as the library for Comenius University in Bratislava with collections dating back to 17th century. In paralel to its academic purpose it has also served as the national library until 1954. Thereafter it has become an independent, universal, research library serving the general public nationwide. The name University Library has remained, because it speaks of its history, universal character of collections as well as user background.

Public transport
The city public transport runs near the library by the following lines: tram no.1 from the Train Station, tram no. 8 and 9 from Ružinov, tram no. 3, 5 and 7 from Rača, bus no. 93 from Train Station, buses no. 83, 84 and 94 from the SAV stop under Train Station, trolleybus no. 202, 205, 208 from the Bus Station.
Car
The library can be reached from the Main Post Office near Uršulínská Street. Parking in the underground garage is at the Franciscan Church.

Transport to the Hotel from Train station
By tram No. 2, disembark at the "Blumentál" stop. From "Blumentál" stop to walk over the street Májkova at the Odborárske square. From the Odborárske square over the cross, turn off left and first street is Moskovská, where be find the hotel Arcus.
Transport from Hotel to the Library
From the "Blumentál" stop by tram No.2, 3,4, 5, 8 or 9 to the "Poštová-Martinus" stop. From the "Poštová-Martinus" stop to walk over the Michalská gate, Michalská street to the library.
