My name is Maria Pia Iocco, and I am a Chilean-Argentine economist with a PhD in Economics from the University of Sussex, UK. My doctoral research focused on the quantitative impact evaluation of educational policies and initiatives across Latin America.
Afterwards, I completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Economics and the Institute for Policy Research (IPR) at the University of Bath, where I explored quantitative aspects of education policy in the UK. I currently hold the position of Visiting Research Fellow at the IPR.
Presently, I serve as an Economist at the National Foundation for Educational Research (NFER), contributing to both UK and international policy teams through rigorous economic analysis and research of educational public policies and programs.
I bring over a decade of experience across academia, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, and the private sector, with a strong emphasis on the analysis, monitoring, and evaluation of economic issues.
I'll be joining the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso in Chile as an Assistant Professor in Fall 2026.
