The group of Complex Photonics developed an interdisciplinary route committing together the Science of Complexity and Photonics. This group involves more than 10 persons (including 6 permanent researchers and 1 technician), with theory, experiments and high-performance computing, with various equipped laboratories with optics, mechanics and chemical preparation facilities.
Group members: Prof. Claudio Conti, Prof. Eugenio Del Re, Dr. Silvia Gentilini, Dr. Davide Pierangeli
The UCSC has extensive experience and advanced research centres and laboratories for biological and clinical studies. All the researchers involved in this project are highly experienced and highly specialized in the proposed tasks. The research group work in the field of graphene-functionalized biomaterials applied to healthcare and life science and took part in numerous funded projects to develop graphene-based technologies.
Group members: Prof. W. Lattanzi, Dr. V. Palmieri, Dr. L. Di Pietro, Dr. M. Barba, Dr. G. Perini
The ICMM team unites two multidisciplinary groups specialized in photonic materials and in biomaterials and tissue engineering, respectively. On one hand, it has over twenty years' experience in the field of photonic materials and has worldwide recognition in the area of self-assembled materials (photonic crystals and photonic glasses). The group has experience in the chemical synthesis of particulate organic and inorganic materials as well as their organization in structured materials. On the other hand, it has over fifteen years’ expertise on the design and assessment of materials for health applications, including cardiovascular, bone and neural tissue engineering approaches. The group has established solid biocompatibility procedures with in vitro mammalian cell cultures and in vivo rat animal models.
Group members: Prof. Cefe Lopez, Dr. A. Blanco, Dr. M. C. Serrano and Paloma Roldán (PhD student devoted to the project)

DHAL Software is an SME founded in 2003. It is dedicated to developing high-quality software products, aimed towards the fields of Dentistry, Medicine, Anthropology and Biology. The main software product is ‘Viewbox’, a 2D and 3D morphometric analysis software with advanced capabilities, including DICOM support, CT data segmentation, surface landmarking, mesh alignment, custom measurement capabilities and geometric morphometric analysis features (e.g.: sliding semi-landmarks, Procrustes alignment, PCA, permutation tests).
