Discovering the molecular and cellular origins of lung cancer

Our labs' focus is bimodal: (1) understanding the contribution long non-coding RNAs play in the development of lung cancers, and (2) cellular origins of lung adenocarcinoma and how they influence cancer etiology.

We utilize combined bioinformatic and molecular biology experimentation to understand these processes. We have characterized a novel role for lncRNAs in the mediation of the DNA damage response, as well as described diverse cell types that can give rise to lung adenocarcinoma. Overall, we aim to discover new mechanisms that cause cancer which can be translated into actionable therapeutic strategies to improve responses to treatment and patient outcomes.
