Marcin Wągiel

['marʲt͡ɕin 'vɔŋɡʲjɛl]

I am a semanticist working on the relationship between the form and the meaning of morphologically complex expressions. Recently, I defended a Ph.D. thesis on subatomic quantification in natural language, i.e., quantification over building blocks of denotations of singular concrete count nouns, which received the E.W. Beth Dissertation Prize 2020

Currently, I am employed in the Department of Czech Language at the Masaryk University in Brno and in the Centre for Corpus and Experimental Research on Slavic Languages "Slavicus" at the University of Wrocław

My linguistic interests focus on compositional semantics and syntax-semantics interface, in particular quantification, plurality, collectivity, distributivity, modification, genericity, comparison, event semantics and semantic change.

I also like basketball and zombies.
