Who are we?

Located in the heart of Cumberland County, the Marching Bolts is one of the many prestigious programs within Millville High School. Comprising of MHS's top musicians and performers, the Marching Bolts go out there with training from the regions top educators and instructors to provide top notch performances at football games and competitive shows, and other community performances.

Under the direction and supervision of Mr. Robert DeSantis, the Marching Bolts do not take advantage of any opportunity they have to be the pride of the Thunderbolts and bleed through passion of the orange and blue. Through the band's long history and growth over the decades, Mr. DeSantis goes above and beyond to continue to teach the next generation of musicians and to support their success in school and when they graduate from Millville.

Since 2016, the Marching Bolts has seen a stretch of very competitive and successful seasons with top 3 finishes at championships, school scoring records being broken year after year, and, since 2021, regional and state championship banners that are being award and displayed for the city of Millville and the band's supporters.

The Marching Bolts currently compete in two marching band circuits: The New Jersey Marching Band Directors Association (NJMBDA) and USBands (NEW). In NJMBDA, the Bolts compete in the AAA class. In USBands, the Bolts compete in the IV A class.

The marching arts program at Millville continues to expand to increase the opportunities for our students to be involved in the arts with the addition of our indoor guard unit (MHSIG) and our indoor percussion unit (MHSIP). 

Since 2018, under the direction and creative design of John Riley, MHSIG has grown into one of the top high school guard programs in Tournament of Bands, most notably, winning the 2023 TIA Scholastic Regional A Atlantic Coast Championship and becoming the highest scoring unit in recent division history. MHSIG competes in the Southern New Jersey Region in the Scholastic Regional A class.

Since 2024, under the direction and creative design of Richie Rivera, Kalee Mora, and Jasmine Kinlaw, MHSIP competes in the Tournament of Bands Southern New Jersey Region in the Scholastic Novice Percussion class.
