Born in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in 1963. I obtained my Licenciatura in Physics at the Universidad de Buenos Aires in 1989, and my Ph.D. at Rutgers University in 1994 under the supervision of Gabi Kotliar. From 1994 to 1998, I was a postdoc at Ecole Normale Superieure (Paris) and the ILL (Grenoble). In 1998 was appointed professor in Condensed Matter Physics at the Physics Department of Universidad de Buenos Aires and researcher of the CONICET of Argentina. Then, returned back to France in 2003 and was visiting professor at Ecole Polytechnique. One year later, was appointed Directeur de Recherche of CNRS. From 2004 to 2024 I worked at the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides, of the Université Paris - Saclay, in Orsay. In 2025, as my research focus is evolving to Neuroscience, I moved to the Integrative Neuroscience and Cognition Center, of the Université Paris - Cité, in the heart of Paris.
Also taught at the University of Tokyo, the IISc in Bangalore and the University of California (San Diego).
Wrote the book "Physics in the Information Age" (La Física y la Edad de la Información) to explain what is modern Condensed Matter Physics to high-school students. It in Spanish, perhaps a volunteer may want to translate it.
