Marcello Mickel is a healthcare operations leader passionate about building systems that are inclusive, equitable, and accessible for all. As the Primary Care & Site Administrator at Atrius Health in Cambridge, he oversees daily operations for more than 25 providers serving over 25,000 patients. His work focuses on improving efficiency, driving innovation, and ensuring every patient receives high-quality care.
Marcello’s professional path began with a B.A. in Biology (Pre-Med) from Boston University, where he developed a strong foundation in clinical science. He went on to earn an M.S. in Health Services Administration from Regis University, combining his clinical background with expertise in healthcare leadership, finance, and strategy. Along the way, he became a Certified Medical Assistant, EMT trained, and earned certifications in Healthcare Quality & Safety and Lean Six Sigma Green Belt. These experiences allow him to bridge the worlds of patient care and operational excellence.
Across his career, Marcello has led initiatives spanning urgent care, behavioral health, pediatrics, OBGYN, pharmacy, and adult medicine. Whether implementing quality improvement programs, supporting clinician productivity, or introducing innovative models such as inclusive care programs, he brings a hands-on, process-driven approach that balances efficiency with compassion.
In addition to his work at Atrius Health, Marcello serves as Affiliate Faculty at Regis University, where he teaches courses in healthcare ethics, administration, and leadership. Mentoring the next generation of healthcare leaders is a privilege, and he is committed to preparing students to lead with integrity, cultural awareness, and resilience in a rapidly evolving industry.
Outside of administration and teaching, Marcello enjoys creative pursuits such as photography and art, which help him see the world through fresh perspectives — an outlook he carries into his professional life.
