I was fortunate to work on a Mock Spending Bill and present as a Mock Bill Sponsor at the California State Capitol as a Scientist for Climate Protection in my Policy Development and Implementation course facilitated by David Bunn. Our acting Legislative Director, Tselot Abdissa , and Assembly Member (Author), Wanda Bonneville, were a pleasure to work alongside.
My team member Erin Gustafson, AICP and I delivered our testimony on strategies for GHG emission reduction, including agricultural incentive programs, transit funding, and other targeted allocations. After lobby night and several rounds of amendments, I’m pleased to share that our Mock Hearing resulted in our Mock Bill passing.
A special thank you to UC Davis Environmental Policy and Management Graduate Program Executive Director Jessica Penrose , Program Coordinator Jessica Chalfin, and professor Dr. David Bunn for organizing and facilitating this incredible experiential learning opportunity at the State Capitol. I continue to be inspired by the dedication, creativity, and passion of all the EPM students. Working alongside such driven peers has been one of the highlights of this experience.
