This project introduces a smart embedded system designed to minimize smartphone distractions and enhance user productivity. The proposed solution is a lockable box controlled by an Arduino-based system, where users place their phones inside before starting a focused study session.
Once activated, the box locks for a predefined study interval based on the Pomodoro Technique. During this period, physical access to the phone is restricted, encouraging uninterrupted concentration. At the end of the session, the system automatically unlocks the box to allow a short break. The device also provides interactive feedback through visual and audio indicators, creating an engaging and effective tool for improving focus and time management.
Students often struggle to maintain concentration due to frequent smartphone use and constant notifications from social media applications. Although many productivity and focus apps are available, they can be easily ignored or disabled, which limits their effectiveness in promoting disciplined study habits.
Therefore, a dedicated physical solution is needed to enforce commitment and minimize distractions. By restricting access to the phone during study periods, the proposed system encourages users to stay focused and manage their time more effectively.
