Rider welfare is something we want to build more firmly into the way we support equestrian sport on the Island.
As part of that, we’re delighted to introduce Lottie Moore as MHC’s Rider Welfare Promoter.
You may already have seen Lottie’s rider welfare leaflet, shared ahead of the Royal Manx Agricultural Show. Lottie has also been involved with our Academy riders, producing information for the group and making sure they knew where support was available. Her role within MHC gives us an opportunity to build on that work, helping to keep rider welfare part of the conversation and making sure people know where to turn when they need support.
This isn’t about creating another layer of rules or formality. It’s about recognising that looking after our riders matters just as much as developing their skills, and making rider welfare a normal part of a healthy sporting environment.
How would you like to see the role develop?
We’re at the beginning of developing the Rider Welfare Promoter role, and we’d really like riders to help shape what comes next.
What would be useful to you? Are there topics you’d like to know more about? Would you be interested in workshops or informal sessions? Are there areas of rider welfare that you think we should be talking about more?
Whether it’s practical information, somewhere to find trusted resources, workshops on particular topics or simply making rider welfare a more normal part of the conversation, we’d love to hear your thoughts.
We’ve put together a short form where you can share your ideas, tell us what you’d be interested in and help Lottie and MHC shape the role for the future. There’s also the option to leave your details if you’d like Lottie to get back to you.
