Math Graduate Board (MGB)

  • The University of Iowa's student organization representing the graduate students of the Math department. MGB exists to provide a forum for departmental discourse, to organize departmental events, and to generally enrich the graduate mathematics experience at the University of Iowa.

  • I have taken part since my first year at Iowa, taking the following leadership roles:

    • Social Co-Chairs (2019 & 2021)

    • General Liaison (2020) (And Head of the General Liaison Committee)

    • GAUSS Co-Organizer (2022)

Campaign to Organize Graduate Students (COGS)

  • This is the democratic, student-run union representing all graduate student workers at the University of Iowa. Not only does it handle negotiations during bargaining, but it assists graduate student workers in the workplace grievance process, and much more.

  • I have been a Math department steward since 2020. My job is to be the connection between the Math Department and COGS. I am the first person the graduate students go to when a workplace issue arises.

  • I assisted in the Union's recertification vote in Fall 2020. My main job was to reach out to University of Iowa building managers and display information about the vote to keep COGS as our main negotiating power.
