SB 9 & HB 1525

Texas Senate Bill 9 Information for Parents and Guardians

According to Texas Senate Bill 9, Manor ISD is mandated to offer education on child abuse prevention, family violence, dating violence, and sex trafficking. Manor ISD, in consultation with the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), has approved the curriculum to address these subjects and has determined the specific grade level(s) at which each topic will be taught.

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to review the curriculum(s) at any time. Your child's school will provide information about parent education opportunities offered throughout the school year, giving you the chance to preview the materials and ask questions of the school leaders. Your child's campus will communicate the dates of each instructional presentation at least 14 days in advance.

Before a student can receive instruction on child abuse, family violence, dating violence, or sex trafficking, Manor ISD must obtain written consent from the student's parent or guardian. Parents or guardians will complete the SB9 Consent Form as part of the Student Registration process in Skyward Family Access. It's important to note that not all topics will be covered at every grade level.
