Metro manila Escapades 2:
A Stroll of Flavors and Companions
Where ramen warms the soul, desserts sweeten the night, and cats steals the spotlight.
Where ramen warms the soul, desserts sweeten the night, and cats steals the spotlight.
Bonifacio High Street is a paradise of flavors where ramen warms the soul, ice cream melts your
worries, and chiffon cake feels like an embrace in every bite… along with stray cats that charms
their way into your heart.
My first stop was Kiwami Japanese Food Hall, and it didn’t take long before a steaming bowl of miso ramen landed in front of me. The broth was rich, savory, and comforting, like liquid warmth traveling through my chest on a breezy evening. The noodles curled gently around my chopsticks, springy and soft, and with every slurp, I felt wrapped in a hug only food could give. It wasn’t just dinner—it was Manila whispering that I belonged.
Next came dessert at St. Louis, where I traded warmth for something sweet and cold. A scoop of vanilla swirled with strawberry ribbons rested in my cup, melting in slow drips under the night air. The taste was creamy, playful, and bright—like a pink-tinted winter dream. Sweet, playful, and refreshing—it was joy in a cup.
At Mary Grace Café, comfort took the form of chiffon cake so soft it felt like my mother’s embrace. Alongside it, a glass of raspberry juice sparkled with life, sweet and tart all at once. It was a reminder that elegance could also taste like home.
And then, there were the cats. Quiet observers of the night, they wandered freely along the pavements, sometimes curling lazily by lamp posts, sometimes pausing near diners as though they too were part of the evening. They became unexpected companions—silent guardians that made the walk feel more personal and alive.
As I walked away under the canopy of lights, I realized Bonifacio High Street wasn’t only a food haven—it’s a shared experience. A blend of flavors, laughter, small surprises, and even stray cats weave memories together. That turned an ordinary evening into a memory stitched in taste and feeling. The joy of that night lingered long after the last bite.
