Guru Smt Vaishali Ramachandran is a versatile Bharatanatyam dancer, with 30+ years of learning, practice and performance behind her. She is the artistic director & principal choreographer of Dayananda Kalalayam. She began her training at the age of four in Mumbai from Guru Geeta Venkateshwar, Director of Bharatanatya Kalalaya, Mumbai. She then trained with acclaimed Guru Dr. Padmaja Suresh, Director of Aatmalaya, Bangalore, who is herself a disciple of Padmashri Guru K. Kalyanasundaram, a stalwart of Tanjavur tradition of Bharatanatyam. Currently apart from advancing her training with Dr Padmaja Suresh and Guru Mythili Kumar, she is also pursuing nattuvangam lessons from Maestro Sri D. V Prassana Kumar.
Vaishali is a company dancer with Abhinaya Dance Company of San Jose and Abhivyakthi Dance Company. She has also collaborated with several Bay Area dance organizations as a guest artist. An accomplished performer, Vaishali continues to present Bharatanatyam in solo and ensemble productions across the United States and India. Her performances have also taken her to prestigious venues in Europe and Dubai, reflecting her continued commitment to sharing the art form with audiences around the world. Inspired by her passion for teaching and choreography, Vaishali founded Dayananda Kalalayam in 2015 with the vision of nurturing the next generation of Bharatanatyam dancers. In recognition of her contributions to the arts, she was conferred the title "Arsha Kala Ratna" by Pujya Swami Dayananda Saraswati and "Kala Sreshta" by SIFA Bay Area. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Bharatanatyam and remains committed to lifelong learning, creating meaningful artistic experiences, and sharing the timeless beauty of this classical art form through performance, choreography, and teaching.
