Interesting Social Media Statistic
One statistic that stood out to me is that nearly 70% of Americans use social media, with younger adults (18-29) leading the pack at 90% (Pew Research Center, 2023). I found this interesting because it mirrors my own experience as a young adult, and I often notice how social media is such a dominant part of my generation’s daily life. This statistic relates to me because social media is a big part of how I connect with friends.

Results: You’re FAIRLY RELIANT on social media – [Time To Log Off Social Media Addiction Quiz]
Reflection: My results show that I rely on social media, but I’m not extremely addicted. It’s interesting to see how much time people spend on screens daily—over 8 hours on average! While I don’t think my usage is excessive, this made me realize that I could be more mindful about my screen time and maybe take more breaks from scrolling.
Social Media’s Impact on Society
Social media has completely changed the way we interact, and while it has benefits, it also comes with drawbacks. It connects people worldwide, helps spread awareness, and even supports businesses. However, it can also lead to mental health struggles, misinformation, and social comparison issues. People sometimes spend too much time online instead of engaging in real-life experiences. I think the key to using social media in a positive way is finding balance—staying informed and connected while also taking breaks when needed.
Lesson Learned
This project made me more aware of how social media influences both individuals and society as a whole. I realized that screen time, privacy, and critical thinking are important factors when engaging online. It also reminded me to be more intentional with my time and not let social media consume too much of my day.
